Details
A pleasing mix of shapes, Noviembre Shelving (2020) consists of two straight shelves separated by three rounded forms, resulting in a sculptural piece that’s also wonderfully functional. It’s beautifully made of solid white oak and sanded by hand. Two of the rounded forms are on the back of the shelves and one is on the front, positioned off center to add pleasing visual tension. “I try to balance the pragmatic with the poetic,” says designer Joel Escalona. Made in Mexico.

Joel Escalona
“I try to balance the pragmatic with the poetic,” says Joel Escalona. The Mexican designer draws references from personal experiences and different cultural inspirations in his work, which has shown at Art Basel, ICFF, Salone del Mobile Milano, and more. This upshot of his approach is a collection of furniture that feels at once sculptural and functional, and captivating in its craftsmanship.
