Details

Constructed of overlapping glass boxes, some with luminous tints, Piero Lissoni’s eye-catching Quantum Bookshelf (2018) channels the DNA of contemporary architecture into a graphic bookcase. Made from extra-light yet durable tempered glass, its boxes are joined together by barely visible chromed metal joints and supported by an elegant solid oak base. Lissoni describes his approach to design as “clean and silent,” with an allowance for a touch of “noise.” This is exemplified in Quantum’s precise yet deliberately staggered compartments, which create a bold structure with distinctive character. Made in Italy.

Piero Lissoni

Since the mid-1980s, Italian designer Piero Lissoni has been quietly and diligently building his reputation as an internationally renowned architect and product designer. Though not quiet in demeanor – gregarious and charming, he exudes Italian charm – he strives to create buildings and interior furnishings “that are clean and more or less silent.”
